Doctoral Institution:

NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY

Starting in Fall 2025, Nicole will matriculate into a terminal degree program at Northwestern University in mechanical engineering and specializing in Mechanical Engineering. Northwestern nationally ranks 6th in Best Graduate Education. Nicole is currently finializing her lab appointment but plans to be co-advised by professors with appointments McCormick School of Engineering, Feinberg School of Medicine, and the Shirely Ryan Ability Lab, the No. 1 Rehabilitation and Physcial Medicine hospital in the country.

PhD in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Robotics | NSF GRFP

Graduate Institution:

Nicole completed the SDA Bocconi School of Management’s MIHMEP Program as a Fulbright Italy Scholar and SDA Bocconi Specialization Tuition Waiver Recipient. She is majoring in Medical Technology and Pharmaceuticals during her tenure in Milano, Italia. SDA Bocconi University is known as one of the most prestigious economics schools in Europe, named 3rd best Global MBA in 2023 by the Financial Times. The MIHMEP program was named the 4th best International Specialized MBA by Forbes in 2019 (the last time this category was ranked). The final part of her masters was a thesis based on a practical experience. To fulfill this requirement, Nicole completed an internship at Johnson & Johnson’s Surgical Robotics department in Sillicon Valley as a Research & Development Engineer.

Undergraduate Institution:

Nicole majored in Mechanical Engineering and minored in Mathematics at UMBC as a Meyerhoff Scholar (M31), Honors Scholar, and Grand Challenge Scholar. Throughout her undergraduate career, she engaged in research experiences, leadership opportunities, and social advocacy. She has worked in research labs at various institutions including MIT and John Hopkins. As an upperclassman, Nicole pursued sustained research experiences throughout the year in addition to her academic responsibilities and leadership positions. From the National Society of Black Engineering to UMBC Residential Life, Nicole has served her peers and colleagues as a leader who not only provided resources and created opportunities but as a voice to enact social change. Nicole often challenged current policies and generated new solutions to ensure the organization’s practices were accommodating and fair to the executive board members and general body.
